Vicky & Rob

REAL WEDDINGS BY KIMPTON GRAY HOTEL

Last chance for romance

Before Vicky completely gave up on the online matchmaking scene, she set one last date. It happened to be with Rob, who recalls that Vicky didn’t put much effort into that evening. However, by the end of their third laughter-filled encounter, they both knew they’d found something special.

The Gray wins the day

Although Vicky has lived in Kenya, India, Thailand and Connecticut, and Rob hails from Michigan, Chicago was the city that started their love story, and the desired locale for their wedding. Kimpton Gray Hotel was selected for design appeal, our accommodating staff and “irresistible” fare, recalls Rob.

Sunshine, motors and rhythm

The morning of the big day began with hair and makeup for Vicky and her bridal party in a hotel suite. Rob met his groomsmen for breakfast at The Gray. The ceremony took place St. James Cathedral, where the priest stirred laughter in the crowd recounting the pair’s descriptions of their relationship. Vicky had said their union was like sunshine: warm and welcoming. Rob, an engineering major, portrayed the pair as electricity and magnetism, like a DC motor.

The skyline of Chicago and The Gray provided inspiring scenery for Vicky and Rob’s wedding photography. Back at The Gray, the reception was held in the Adler Ballroom, adorned with simple white with blush tones throughout. Guests were in the mood to cut loose — the DJ told Rob he hadn’t seen that much dancing in years.

Mr. and Mrs. at last

The newly minted married couple spent the night in the Presidential Suite. Rob especially appreciated the staff’s thoughtfulness and unexpected surprises. “The Gray knew we liked tequila and had two little bottles of Patrón waiting of us with a hand-written note.” We join you in toasting a happy marriage, Vicky and Rob.
